Our one holiday break project was replacing the shelves over our "bar". Granted it hasn't been a bar since we took out the sink seven years ago...and it was never used as a bar, even when it had a sink. Yet, we still call it the bar.
Not a huge change, but freshened up with some neutral paint, a different style of shelves and a few new organizational tools like file folders and a tin for "things".
