I have grown up loving hot black tea with too much sugar and half and half. In the summer that turns into iced tea, but with a reasonable amount of simple syrup and a splash of half and half. In the last few weeks though I have tried to be a little creative the the herb garden harvests and came up with this. I should mention I like my tea to be very strong and dark, so please keep in mind that you might want to cut back a little from the amount of tea bags that I like to use.
Vanilla Mint Iced Tea
- 6 cups of boiling water
- 8 Irish breakfast tea bags (I love the decaffeinated tea from Trader Joe's)
- 2 Vanilla Comoro tea bags (these aren't necessary, but they are a total favorite)
- 1/2 cup Sweet Mint or Chocolate Mint leaves
- Vanilla Torani Syrup
- Half and Half
Place the tea bags and pile of mint leaves in a very large measuring cup or bowl. Pour boiling water over the tea and mint and allow to steep for at least 15 minutes. When it has cooled strain the tea into a pitcher and store in the refrigerator. Fill a glass with ice, pump or pour a couple tablespoons of vanilla syrup to sweeten the tea and then a splash of half and half to finish it off.
