One massive tree stump, six strands of lights, three plastic adirondack chairs, one umbrella, a new throw pillow, two tons of gravel...and it's all done. Thanks to all of Sean's hard work our backyard is an awfully nice place to sit down and hang out.
Our homemade dining table is still on the patio, but we made two different seating areas on opposite sides of the yard. We decided on a rustic extension to the concrete patio by covering part of the yard with gravel. There is just something about it crunching under our feet that makes the little backyard feel a lot more natural.
We knew we wanted to build our own fire pit, but I decided we needed to take it just a little bit farther with five cans of spray paint. You can see more photos of this crazy project on the Eighteen25 blog where it was shared last week.
Honestly, in the thirteen years we have been lucky enough to have this backyard, we have not used it any where as much as we should. Now I can't help but be out there every day puttering around, trimming plants and sprinkling some water on something. We just go sit outside for no reason at all...which really is the perfect reason.
