I had intended to write on here as the trip was happening, but it turned out that having the time of our life did not leave much time in the day. Instead I'll share over the next couple of days...
On our way there I was pretty much a broken record singing the only line from "Empire State of Mind" that I know...
New York, concrete jungle where dreams are made of
There's nothin' you can't do
Now you're in New York
These streets will make you feel brand new
Big lights will inspire you
Let's hear it for New York, New York,
New York
I may or may not have danced around while singing it.
As we boarded the plane tears streamed down my cheeks. People must have thought I was leaving behind the love of my life, but it was excitement that could not be contained.
The subway got us into the city for us to drop off our bags at the hotel and walk the two blocks to Times Square so we could start our trip around 10:30pm. When I took out our camera for the first time I didn't understand why the lens was all foggy...it took me a minute to realize it was the severe humidity.
I tried my darndest not to complain about the oppressive heat and profuse sweating. Instead I kept joking about how beautiful out it was.
And what the heck did I have to complain about anyway?
