My mom woke me up with a phone call on September 11, 2001 suggesting that I turn on the news right away that morning.
Ten years later what stays with me more than the fear of that day is the resilience our country demonstrated in the days and weeks after.
Being immersed in Sociology nowadays I have to study a lot about what society struggles with, what it does wrong. Remembering the care and concern that was extended to others, and especially the pride in who we were collectively, is something I believe as a society we did really, really right.
