Thinking about my organizer tonight as it's almost time to get ready for May. Years ago my Franklin Covey planner was a prized possession...just like every normal 15 year old, right? Then I made the bold move into all things Palm Pilot. But a couple of years ago I decided I needed paper back in my life again and, although I flirted with Filofax for awhile, I think I have finally settled down with Russell and Hazel.
I have mentioned before that I have one of their mini binders. I use some of their blank filler paper and then have designed my own forms (you can find some to download in this old post). The very best part of this organizer is it's flexibility. Some weeks I barely need one page...and other times there are multiple pages and numerous notes included. I use this compact-sized hole punch to put in any other items I made need each week.
I have a homemade sewn cover for my binder for a little extra protection. Normally I have no interest in animal prints, but for some reason I love this lime green zebra pattern...
I have one page with a whole month overview. I only store one detailed month at a time (with it's weekly sheets), but then I have every month for the rest of the year kept in the back of the binder...
Each week of the month gets a page full of what needs to be done. I always use a post-it tab on the current week so it's easy to find and I stamp the top with a date stamp...
I use washi tape to include little extras that may be needed...like a business card or something torn from a catalog...
I even have a copy of my master syllabus for school that includes the work for all of my classes each week...
I realize I may be a tad bit obsessed with all this organizer business. However I have a special gift of being able to remember pretty much nothing in my life, so I need this. If you want to make sure I'm really going to get something done you should always ask, "Are you writing this down?" otherwise we're all at great risk that I'm going to totally forget...it's really quite a charming trait.
