Some of you guessed correctly...my word is "Learn".
I got the idea towards the end of my fall semester when I wanted to organize the class notes I know I want to keep for future reference and saw that the pile of books I want to keep slowly growing.
I decided I needed a place to keep all of it and watch it grow...I've joked that as the bookcase fills so should my brain...at least that's the plan.
All the books in the two bottom left hand corner cubes were given to me by my mom when she was cleaning out around her house earlier in the year...it worked out well for me that she earned a master's degree in Psychology and had a fellow Psychologist and friend who happened to teach Women's Studies and gave her a lot of books back in the 80's and early 90's...I don't know if I'll ever get a chance to read them all, but what a cool collection to be able to refer to if I need to.
Oh and speaking of Earth Day again we also have those fluorescent light-bulbs around the house and in this case they were casting a horrid light on the bookshelf that I am too inept at photo editing to begin to know how to fix...but oh well we're helping the environment. :)
Oh and there might be a ton of holes in the wall because I just might have asked Sean to move it all about an inch to try to center it better...even though he warned me about that when we were first hanging up the tree and I ignored him...it's a wonder he doesn't strangle me sometimes...especially since he has had to cover A LOT of holes with spackle and paint over the years.
I finally used the flash to attempt to show you that the "L" is actually dark blue and the "A" is dark green...
The tree is from Pottery Barn a few months ago...I saw it on sale on the website, drooled over it, finally decided to buy it yet somehow my order never actually went through the system and when I realized it my tree was sold out on-line and I had to have it ordered and shipped from a store that of course didn't have it discounted quite as much as it had been on-line...but I still HAD to have it, huh?
So hopefully seeing "Learn" everyday will be a reminder of the goals I have and what I need to continue to strive for. Heck if it works I might need to go back to Timeless Treasures and get more inspiration. I wonder if spelling out something like "Don't be a fat ass" on a wall might help me eat more carrot sticks instead of cookies? :) That would be a lot of letters though...
