It occurred to me that I should update my 31 things on every 2nd of the month...but here I am already late since it was a busy weekend...so here's where I stand so far...
1. Turn off the TV a lot more (as mentioned in my previous post) Doing much better...of course it's kind of cheating since most shows have ended for the season...but it was more about cutting back on the random TV watching anyway
2. Read books...maybe I should make it a goal to read 31 this year? :) Okay not doing as well with this...although I have been reading more...at this rate 31 books could never happen
3. Walk a half marathon Sean printed out two different training programs for me, but they don't start until about 10-12 weeks before so for now I'm just trying to incorporate some longer walking besides our daily two miles
4. Be able to jog a couple of miles trying to mix jogging into our daily walks as much as I can...going for a little speed by doing intervals instead of jogging straight through for now
5. Figure out more ways to make changes to our house that are better for the environment Finally got half a dozen reusable bags so we can use them for shopping
6. Get ready for the second half of my bachelors degree...get my last semester at community college organized, apply to schools, and try for as many scholarships as I can Met with my counselor last week...after I take my summer class and four in the fall I'm ready to transfer...I have my two school choices pretty much narrowed down and have started collecting information on scholarships
7. Eat five fruits and vegetables everyday Still working on getting to five EVERY day...kept that mind while grocery shopping yesterday though so I'm stocked up for the week
8. Get up to the Bay Area again Nothing planned yet
9. Really clean out and organize our linen cabinets Almost got to this last weekend, but not yet...soon...very soon...
10. Finally organize my recipes Okay this is one of the things I really want to get done in these next few weeks before Camp...I keep trying to encourage myself to do it by envisioning how nice it will be to have it all streamlined into nice binders
11. Start meal planning Kind of goes hand in hand with the recipe organizing...so again in these next few weeks
12. Grow a flower garden We planted a bunch last month and nothing is dead yet, but they are not quite flourishing either...still have some seeds to get started
13. Start composting for our vegetable garden Done
14. Get caught up on scrapbooking and stay there Not done...but I have all my photos printed out and organized so I can do a page here and there
15. Clean out and simplify more around the house Did the whole office supply reorganization last weekend...did a little cleaning out in Mac's room...cleaned out my closet too in the last couple of weeks
16. Lose more weight...31 pounds sounds like a good goal Lost about four more pounds
17. Clean and re-organize Sean's classroom (if he'll let me at it...I've always wanted to do it) This would have to wait until he's off in the summer...I'm still working on selling the idea to him
18. Go to three museums around Southern California Not yet...need to figure out what/where sounds like fun
19. Be able to do 100 sit-ups Can do 35 in a row with no problem...got to 48 one night last week
20. Finish crocheting the blanket I've been slowly working on since last summer Finished ac ouple of rows last Thursday while watching the Scripps National Spelling Bee with Mac & Sean
21. Sit down and take a good look at our budget and see what changes we can make Still need to do this
22. Try to develop another scrapbooking class (struggling with this one) Don't have any good ideas right now
23. Get all our photos burned onto DVDs Haven't even started yet
24. Figure out something creative and colorful to do in our upstairs hallway Have some ideas but this will have to wait till later in the summer
25. Help my cousins start to reorganize and plan the family reunions we haven't had for a couple years Haven't worked on this yet
26. Find more flea markets and antique stores to explore Not yet
27. Grow my hair out longer so I can donate it again Totally cheated and won't be completing it this year since my hair grows pretty slowly...I felt kind of vain and selfish not waiting to cut it...but I kind of really like the bob
28. Try and learn more about editing photos Not yet...
29. Be better about e-mailing photos to my in-laws Sent Sean's mom photos from Mother's Day...haven't had anything good to send her lately
30. Host more dinner parties No parties at our house planned, but we've put ourselves in charge of packing up a picnic and getting together with friends at the first concert in the park in two weeks
31. Keep trying to be more patient I've had a few moments this month when I made the conscience effort to be more patient...and it actually worked :)
