Coach Griffin that is...Sean's seven weeks of basketball with his 7th grade girls team came to an end today after six weeks of practices and this week of games.
I managed to get done with my science lab test, pick Mac up from school, and drive to the end of the earth (otherwise known as La Palma) so we could surprise him and cheer the team on. I don't think Mac ever stopped yelling...lots of "BLOCK THEM" and "DEFENSE!!!"...it was way too cute...about as cute as my husband coaching. The team lost 27-17, but it was a great game nonetheless.
Sean and I have argued over coaching plenty of times. Truth be told, I'm not really cut out to spend every weekend in a gym watching a game or having him away from home all day like when he was an assistant coach for a little local college a few years back...but this after school program is perfect...absolutely perfect for both of us...he gets to coach and I get to see him. He waited several years to do this because we have spent the last three years now on "if/when we have a baby" watch. Now that we're done with that I was so happy he got to do this...he loves it and it makes me happy to have figured out a way for him to have it in his life. I know he's kind of disappointed the season is over, but I have to admit I cannot wait to hear that garage door open up at 3pm tomorrow when he gets home early for the first time in a couple of months. :)
