So, this is what I get from my ten year old on his first day of school...well, actually I got a couple of smiles too...but the super cheesy, posed ones that have, "Mom, are you done yet?" written all over them.
By the time Mac got to school he was nervous and embarrassed by his mom with the camera...who tried to make a bet with him on the way that there's no way I would be the only parent with a camera, he didn't take it...good thing, because we weren't even out of the car before I spotted my first camera carrying parent.
It's was hard not to proclaim his grade level this year...you know, "Smile...you're the big fourth grader!"...neither of us said anything about him being in third grade again...thankfully this new school is much more fluid with grade levels being combined in the same room so there's not quite as much of a stigma...still ten years old and in third grade, but it's more important to really learn, than to just move forward when you haven't mastered what you need to.
And so it truly begins now...new school, new backpack and lunch-box... hopefully lots of new friends and lots of new academic skills...
