Approval. :)
It went really well. Mac gave a great tour she said it was much more informative than she usually gets...she learned things like, "this is where I opened my presents at my birthday party."...you know, the important stuff. :)
Mac actually said "thank you" every time she complimented him...usually I hold my breath just to hear him say nothing in response or maybe a "yeah"...so when she said, "You have such a nice room" and Mac said "thank you" I literally did a cheer behind her back.
We answered a bunch of tough questions...what race were we comfortable with, half or full...how did we feel about a birth-mom who used drugs, alcohol, or smoked...do we care is there is no birth-father to get any medical history from, what disabilities and mental illnesses are we open to, what financial help we could give the birth mom if she needed it. I told her I worried that it kind of felt kind of impersonal, like you're ordering a hamburger, "I'll take a half caucasian/half pacific-islander with no drugs and a birth-father on the side please". We were sitting there saying, "Yes, that's okay" and "No, we don't want that".
So I still have to get the birth-mom letter written and color-copied dozens of times and I am about 1/4 of the way through the book that needs to be copied too (when the lawyer were working with told us he needed three copies of our scrapbook too I decided I would make one and then color copy it...six original books were not going to happen)...still a lot of work to do. It feels good, though, to know we're past the major hurdles and almost to the day where we start waiting and waiting for a phone call... :)
