Honey Balsamic Marinade

Just Make Stuff Blog...Honey Balsamic Marinade

I know it's getting close to the end of grilling season for many of you, but that won't be the case for awhile here in Southern California. Over the summer, when we had a meat waiting to be barbecued, I tossed together these ingredients and discovered it makes for some pretty tasty grilled steak. This is my recipe, so please keep in mind all measurements are my best estimate...I'm the worst at keeping track.

Honey Garlic Marinade

Ingredients:

Top Sirloin Steak or desired cut of beef; one pound

Honey; 3 tablespoons

Balsamic Vinegar; 4 tablespoons

Soy Sauce; 4 tablespoons

Worcestershire Sauce; 4 tablespoons

4 garlic cloves; minced (or 2 tablespoons from a jar of garlic)

Dijon mustard; 3 tablespoons

Instructions:

Place meat into a zip lock bag and add marinade ingredients. Marinade for several hours or over night in the refridgerator and then it's all ready to barbecue.

Beef Burgundy

Just Make Stuff Blog...Beef Burgundy

This is an old photo of a dinner party I had a couple of years ago and Beef Burgundy is on the plate...you're not missing anything by not seeing it up close since it's not the most attractive looking food you'll ever make, but it's SO delicious you won't care what it looks like.

This beef burgundy recipe is one of my very favorites from my mom. You just throw together the five ingredients and wait three long hours as your house is filled with an amazing aroma that makes you just about want to crawl into the oven and start eating.

Beef Burgundy

Ingredients:

2 pounds of stew beef cut up into small pieces
1 can of Cream of Mushroom soup
1/2 a soup can of water
2/3 cup of Burgundy Wine
package of Lipton Onion Soup Mix

Instructions:

Mix together all the ingredients in a 2 quart casserole and cook in and oven for three hours at 325 degrees.

Serve over rice or noodles.

Hamburger Chop Suey

Just Make Stuff Blog...Hamburger Chop Suey

This is one of those recipes my mom would make for us growing up...quick and good.  I substitute beef broth for the 2 cups of water to give it more flavor...oh and I try to get it all made and then let it simmer for the 20 minutes the rice takes to cook so that it's more flavorful too.

Hamburger Chop Suey
Ingredients:
1 pound ground beef
1 onion chopped
1/2 cup celery
1 tsp beef buillion
2 cup hot water
1/4 cup cold water
2 tbsp soy sauce
2 tbsp corn starch
8 oz can water chestnuts
4 c cooked rice

Instructions:
Brown beef in skillet and stir in onion, celery, buillion and hot water.  Boil then reduce heat.  Mix cold water, corn starch and soy sauce together and stir into skillet.  Boil 1 minute stur in remaining ingredients.
